The news feels particularly bleak of late, and it seems like everything I’m reading only fuels my anxiety about the impending election here in the United States. I could write essays about the rampant racism and misogyny we’re seeing from Donald Trump and the legitimate fear many of us feel for our safety and well-being if he is re-elected, but there is no shortage of people writing about this, and I am working hard to find pinpricks of light and hope to keep myself from tunneling into despair. This week, I’d like to share one particular bright spot in my life.
Last week, my poem If Adam Picked The Apple went a little viral. I posted a picture of it to my two social media platforms sharing my excitement that it was published in the most recent Pushcart Prize anthology with Diane Seuss and Joyce Carol Oates, award-winning writers I am honored to have my work alongside.
